Pengenalan

Greed (tamak) adalah emosi yang menyebabkan trader:

  • Tidak ambil profit bila sepatutnya
  • Hold position terlalu lama
  • Increase position size tanpa justifikasi
  • Ignore exit signals

FOMO menyebabkan bad entries. Greed menyebabkan good trades jadi bad trades.

Apa Itu Greed Dalam Trading?

Definisi

Greed adalah keinginan untuk mendapat LEBIH daripada apa yang realistic atau apa yang anda rancang.

Bagaimana Greed Manifests

Scenario:

  • Entry LONG @ 4,200
  • TP plan @ 4,230 (30 ticks)
  • Harga sampai 4,230
  • Fikiran: "Mesti lagi naik! Nak 50 ticks!"
  • Tukar TP ke 4,250
  • Harga reverse ke 4,190
  • End up LOSS instead of 30 tick profit!

Anda tukar winning trade jadi losing trade sebab GREED.

Real Case Study: Greed Destroys Profit

RCT Loss Case: Greed + No SL

Background: Trader entry SHORT semasa downtrend.

What happened:

TimePriceActionThoughts
10:304,200Entry SHORT"Nice setup!"
11:004,180+20 ticks profit"Nak lagi!"
11:304,170+30 ticks profit"Original TP, tapi mesti lagi turun!"
12:004,160+40 ticks profit"Wow! Nak 100 ticks!"
12:304,180+20 ticks"Pullback je, nanti turun balik"
14:304,200Breakeven"Bagi chance..."
15:004,220-20 ticksStill holding, hoping
15:304,240-40 ticksFinally cut loss

Result: From +40 ticks to -40 ticks = 80 ticks swing!

Lesson: Greed turned a perfect trade into a disaster.

Signs Anda Sedang Greedy

Mental Signs

  • "Mesti lagi naik/turun!"
  • "30 ticks tak cukup, nak 50!"
  • "Kalau hold, boleh dapat lebih!"
  • "Baru start, rugi close awal"
  • "Trade ni special, boleh big win"

Behavioral Signs

  • Tukar TP semasa trade running
  • Cancel TP order bila hampir hit
  • Tidak follow trading plan
  • Add to winning position without plan
  • Ignore reversal signals
  • "Let it ride" mentality

Physical Signs

  • Excitement berlebihan
  • Fantasize about big profits
  • Mental calculation "kalau sampai here, dapat RM X"
  • Reluctance to close even at target

Jenis-Jenis Greed

1. Profit Target Greed

Original plan: TP at 30 ticks Greedy action: Tukar ke 50 ticks sebab "market bagus"

2. Position Size Greed

Original plan: Trade 1 lot Greedy action: Trade 3 lots sebab "confident sangat"

3. Holding Period Greed

Original plan: Intraday trade, close by EOD Greedy action: Hold overnight sebab "esok mesti rally"

4. Compound Greed

Original plan: Take profit, then wait for next setup Greedy action: Immediately re-enter untuk "double the profit"

Kenapa Greed Berbahaya

1. Markets Don't Care About Your Targets

Market bergerak based on supply/demand, bukan based on how much you want to make.

2. Every Tick Is A Gift

Profit yang anda ada adalah REAL. Profit yang anda harapkan adalah IMAGINARY.

3. Reversal Is Always Coming

No trend goes forever. The longer you hold, the higher chance of reversal.

4. Greed Compounds

  • Greedy TP → Trade reverse → No profit
  • Angry → Revenge trade → More losses
  • Spiral into big drawdown

Greed vs FOMO

AspectFOMOGreed
WhenBefore entryDuring/after winning trade
CauseFear of missing opportunityDesire for more profit
ResultBad entryGood trade becomes bad
FeelingAnxious, rushedExcited, overconfident
SolutionWait for setupStick to TP

Kedua-dua adalah musuh, tapi pada stage berbeza.

Cara Atasi Greed

1. Pre-Define TP Before Entry

Rule: TP MESTI ditetapkan SEBELUM entry.

Tulis:

  • Entry: _____
  • SL: _____
  • TP: _____

JANGAN tukar TP semasa trade running (kecuali ada very valid reason).

2. Use Bracket Orders

Set TP secara automatik dalam platform:

  • TP auto execute
  • Anda tidak perlu buat keputusan emosional
  • "Set and forget"

3. Partial Profit Strategy

Jika rasa sayang close penuh:

PositionAction
50%Close at TP1 (lock profit)
50%Let run with trailing SL

Ini satisfy both "secure profit" dan "let winners run".

4. "Bird In Hand" Mindset

"A bird in hand is worth two in the bush."

  • 30 ticks profit di tangan > 50 ticks profit di imagination
  • Profit yang anda realize adalah REAL
  • Profit yang anda hope adalah FANTASY

5. Review Greedy Trades

Track in journal:

  • Trades where you moved TP
  • What happened after
  • P&L impact

After 1 month: Calculate how much greed cost you.

6. Daily Profit Target

Set daily target:

  • "Selepas +50 ticks, saya STOP trading"
  • Ini prevent "one more trade" mentality

Taking Profit: The Rules

Rule 1: TP Is TP

Bila harga sampai TP, CLOSE. Jangan fikir lagi.

Rule 2: Partial Is OK

Tak confident? Close separuh. At least lock some profit.

Rule 3: Move SL, Not TP

Jika trade going well:

  • DO: Move SL to breakeven (lock zero loss)
  • DO: Move SL to lock profit
  • DON'T: Move TP further away

Rule 4: Time TP

Jika trade tidak move selepas X hours:

  • Consider closing
  • Capital boleh digunakan untuk trade lain

Rule 5: Signal TP

Jika ada reversal signal (candlestick pattern, divergence):

  • Take profit regardless of target
  • Better 20 ticks than 0 ticks

Greed In Position Sizing

The Danger

After winning trade:

  • "Saya hot! Next trade 3 lots!"
  • Next trade loses
  • Loss 3x bigger than usual

The Solution

Fixed position size rules:

  • Trade same size regardless of recent results
  • Only increase after sustained profitability
  • Increase gradually (1 lot → 1.5 lot, not 1 → 3)

Position Sizing Formula

Position Size = (Capital × Risk%) ÷ (SL × Tick Value)

Contoh:
Capital: RM 10,000
Risk per trade: 2% = RM 200
SL: 10 ticks = RM 250 per lot

Max position = RM 200 ÷ RM 250 = 0.8 lot = Round to 1 lot

Jangan deviate from this formula based on "feeling confident."

The "One More Trade" Trap

Scenario

  • You're up RM 500 for the day
  • "One more trade, buat RM 1,000!"
  • Trade loses RM 300
  • "One more to recover!"
  • Trade loses another RM 300
  • End of day: Breakeven or negative

Why This Happens

  • Greed untuk bigger P&L
  • Overconfidence from wins
  • Not satisfied with "enough"

Solution

Daily Stop Rules:

  • After +X profit, STOP trading
  • After X trades, STOP trading
  • After X losses, STOP trading

"The market will be here tomorrow. Protect today's profit."

Case Study: Patience vs Greed

Trader A (Greedy)

Plan:

  • Entry: 4,200
  • SL: 4,190 (10 ticks)
  • TP: 4,230 (30 ticks)
  • RRR: 1:3

Execution:

  • Harga sampai 4,228 (almost TP)
  • "Mesti sampai 4,250!"
  • Tukar TP ke 4,250
  • Harga reverse ke 4,190
  • Hit SL, loss 10 ticks

Result: Planned +30, Got -10 = 40 tick swing!

Trader B (Disciplined)

Plan:

  • Entry: 4,200
  • SL: 4,190 (10 ticks)
  • TP: 4,230 (30 ticks)
  • RRR: 1:3

Execution:

  • Harga sampai 4,230
  • TP hit, close position
  • +30 ticks

Result: Planned +30, Got +30 = Perfect execution!

Greed Recovery After It Happens

If You Were Greedy and Lost

  1. Accept it - Acknowledge the mistake
  2. Stop trading - Take a break
  3. Journal it - What triggered the greed?
  4. Learn - Set rule to prevent next time
  5. Move on - Don't revenge trade

Common Post-Greed Mistakes

  • Revenge trading to "make back"
  • Increasing size untuk recover
  • More greedy next trade ("must make more to cover loss")

All these compound the problem.

Reframing Greedy Thoughts

Greedy ThoughtReframe
"Mesti lagi naik!""I don't know. My plan says take profit here."
"30 ticks tak cukup!""30 ticks is a great trade. Professionals would be happy."
"Kalau hold boleh 100 ticks!""Or I could lose everything. Bird in hand."
"Market terlalu bagus untuk exit!""The best time to exit is when you don't want to."
"Trade ni special!""Every trade should follow the same rules."

Soalan Lazim (FAQ)

Q: "Tapi pro traders let winners run?"

A: Pro traders have RULES for letting winners run (trailing stops, specific criteria). They don't randomly change TP based on feelings.

Q: "Kalau memang market strong, tak boleh extend TP?"

A: Boleh, tapi dengan rules:

  • Move SL to breakeven first
  • Only extend if NEW technical reason (new pattern, break new level)
  • Not based on "rasa"

Q: "Berapa profit dianggap cukup?"

A: Cukup adalah bila plan anda kata cukup. If plan says 30 ticks, 30 ticks is cukup.
